What is Invisalign?

Invisalign braces are acrylic aligners that fit snugly over your teeth – whether you’re straightening the top set, bottom, or both. The aligners ‘realign’ the smile for a more uniform appearance. But you won’t just wear one aligner (or one pair) during your treatment. You’ll cycle through a series of Invisalign aligners, with each designed for the next stage of treatment. And you’ll be glad to know you can get them even with wisdom teeth.

How does it work?

In order to create your aligners, your smile is scanned and then a computer program plots how the teeth need to be positioned over time for the perfect straight smile. This means you’ll see how your smile will change not just over the course of your treatment, but for the finished result. Our patients in Stockport love how predictable Invisalign braces are – and the technology has been used globally on over 5 million people.

Why have Invisalign braces?

The most common reasons include:

  • Creating a generally straighter smile
  • Following on from previous orthodontic treatment
  • Correcting bite issues (e.g. an overbite)
  • Correcting crooked teeth, gaps and overlaps

Invisalign braces are almost invisible on the smile, which helps people feel much more confident about treatment. They can also be removed at any time, are easy to clean, and allow you to eat whatever diet you wish (as they can be taken out for snacks and meals).

Who is suitable for Invisalign treatment?

Most people are suitable for Invisalign, even those with wisdom teeth (providing there are no issues with how the teeth have “grown in”. Most dentists are able to offer treatment even if you have crowns, dental implants, veneers and other restorative work – however, it’s determined on a case-by-case basis, so you will need a consultation first.

How do I book Invisalign braces?

Our patients in Stockport book with us time and time again for a range of treatments – and Invisalign braces are just one of them. All you need to do is give us a call and we’ll handle the rest, with or without wisdom teeth.
